Final reports - glasstec 2008

“Glass and Energy” was a theme high on the agenda at the 20th glasstec in Düsseldorf now drawing to a successful close on 25 October. Over 1,300 exhibitors from throughout the world presented their innovations in the fields of glass industry, glass machinery and equipment construction as well as the glazier trade. For the first time glasstec altogether occupied in excess of 73,000 square metres of net exhibition space.

Preventing Window Size Reductions in New Buildings

Thanks to their involved commitment the German Flat Glass Manufacturers’ Association and the Association of Window and Façade Manufacturers (Bundesverband Flachglas e.V. / BVF and Verband der Fenster- und Fassadenhersteller e.V. /VFF respectively) are preventing window panes and glass facades having to be made smaller in new buildings in Germany in future.

Design and technology highlight: glass technology live 2008 shows cold-bent glass bridge

There will be a world premiere and absolute highlight at glasstec 2008 from 21 to 25 October in Düsseldorf: a crystal-clear, bent bridge in cold-moulded glass with a span of seven metres. The spectacular exhibit is being presented by the seele company in cooperation with Prof. Stefan Behling and Dipl.- Ing. Andreas Fuchs (IBK Reasearch + Development, University of Stuttgart), and Dr. Ing. Stefan Peters (ENGELSMANN PETERS Ingenieure) within the “glass technology live” special show.
