Xpar to equip Steinbach lines
17/11/2008
Wiegand-Glas has decided to install Xpar Vision camera systems for hot end inspection and process monitoring for all production lines at its main factory in Steinbach, Germany. In addition to its current camera systems, Xpar Vision will supply four of its latest IR-D systems, to be installed in the course of the coming months.
Wiegand-Glas’ decision to equip all its Steinbach production lines with camera equipment results from a need for quality control at the hot end in addition to quality selection at the cold end, as explained by Managing Director, Oliver Wiegand: “Customer expectations are steadily increasing and put pressure on our inspection capabilities. In the meantime we are faced with environmental policy pressures regarding carbon emission and energy usage. In order to face this pressure we simply have to move our attention from quality selection at the cold end (correction) to quality control at the hot end (prevention).”
Since 2002 Wiegand-Glas has been using Xpar Vision’s infra-red technology with two of its camera systems. The German manufacturer’s main reason behind buying four additional IR-D systems is to create a company-wide emphasis on quality control. Also, these double camera systems offer broader functionality in terms of inspection and process monitoring.
Xpar Vision is to assist Wiegand Glas’ hot end specialists in effectively operating its equipment with consultants offering on-site guidance.
